AQUALOK™

The Aqualok permeable paving system is designed to manage storm water runoff effectively by diverting and storing water within the paving structure. This process allows water to be filtered and cleansed of pollutants and sediments before gradually releasing it into the ground below. The system employs a unique approach with raised nubs on each paver that create spaces when laid, which are then filled with a fine drainage medium. This creates a pathway for water to flow through the pavers, facilitating the drainage process. When combined with the Aquastone paving system, the Aqualok system can lead to visually appealing and functional landscape designs. By utilising both rectangle and cobblestone set pavers, various design elements can be achieved. AQUASTONE™

Aquastone permeable pavers are an innovative and aesthetically pleasing solution for various landscaping applications. These pavers offer the appearance of traditional cobblestone set pavers but come in a convenient size of 200mm x 100mm. The unique feature of raised nubs on each side of the paver is particularly interesting, as it allows for wider spacing between the pavers when they are laid down. This spacing creates permeable drainage channels, which can be filled with a fine drainage medium to facilitate water drainage. By combining the Aquastone paving system with the Aqualok paving system, you can achieve diverse and captivating landscape designs. Aquabind™, which is a water-based acrylic solution with elastomeric properties designed to be used in conjunction with permeable pavement projects. Aquabind™ is a product designed to provide stability and durability to permeable pavement projects by using its elastomeric properties. It’s mixed with water at a 1:1 ratio and is used to prevent erosion of jointing chips and decorative pebbles, especially in situations where water flow or cleaning methods might pose a risk to the integrity of the pavement.

Properties: Aquabind™ is a water-based acrylic solution that possesses elastomeric properties. This means that it has the ability to flex and move with the permeable pavement, adapting to any changes without cracking or breaking.

Application: The diluted Aquabind™ solution is applied to jointing chips and decorative pebbles. Its primary purpose is to stabilise these materials, preventing them from being washed out due to factors like steep driveways or cleaning methods involving water blasters or hose pipes.

Coverage: When the diluted Aquabind™ solution is used in a 1:1 ratio with water, one 20-liter pail of Aquabind™ can cover approximately 60 square meters (m2) of paving. This indicates the area that can be effectively treated with the given amount of product.

Concentration: Aquabind™ concentrate is sold in 20-liter pails. When mixed with water at a 1:1 ratio, you get a diluted solution. For example, you would mix 1 liter of Aquabind™ with 1 liter of water.

Complementary Products: Aquabind™ is recommended to be used alongside other products like Aqualok™ and Aquastone™ for stabilising joint chips, and with Grasslok™ when working with decorative pebbles. These complementary products likely enhance the performance of the overall pavement system.

AQUALOK, AQUASTONE & AQUACOURT LAYING PATTERNS

Herringbone 90 and 45 degrees to the direction of the traffic is best suited for vehicular application.

The Atlas Permeable Paving range is engineered for long-term performance, with Aqualok and Aquastone’s permeability rates of 5,500 mm/hr, exceeding the council’s minimum requirement of 120 mm/hr.

This high permeability ensures effective stormwater management over time, even with natural sediment build-up.

To achieve optimal results and maximise system longevity, correct installation and regular maintenance are essential

Note: During compaction the plate compacter needs to have a carpet attached to protect the uneven surface of the Aquastone.
