Atlas operate three sites across Auckland to dispose of your waste concrete and we crush and screen it into various base course and drainage products.
Why we do it
Concrete recycling significantly reduces the volume of demolished concrete sent to landfill, while repurposing crushed concrete into valuable recycled products. This process minimises the need for new raw materials, promoting sustainability in construction.
What is concrete recycling?
Concrete recycling is the smart, cost-efficient, and environmentally friendly way to reuse aggregate left behind when concrete structures are demolished. Demolished concrete can be delivered to us by the truckload, where we:
• Crush the concrete
• Remove the steel
• Process the material through our plant
This results in a range of high-quality recycled concrete products ready for use in construction projects.
Recycled vs Natural
Recycled concrete products perform comparably to naturally sourced aggregates, making them a reliable and sustainable choice for various applications.
Council and Transport Approval
In an exciting step toward sustainable construction, Auckland Council has released the ACS740 Recycled Aggregates document, officially approving the use of recycled concrete for:
• Pipe bedding applications (CCAP20)
• Pipe backfill applications (CCAP65)
Atlas Concrete is proud to confirm that our recycled products fully comply with these standards, offering a compliant and eco-friendly solution for your projects.
In addition to this Auckland Transport has approved Atlas Recycling as a certified supplier of recycled crushed concrete to the Auckland Transport network. As our recycled aggregates consistently meet the quality and performance requirements of Auckland Transport (AT) Series 0800 specifications for use in base course and sub-base applications. We supply the following products to meet your project requirements:
• CCAP65
• CCAP40
• CCAP20
With growing emphasis on sustainable construction practices, using recycled concrete helps reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and contribute to building a circular economy.
Benefits of Using Recycled Concrete
Choosing recycled concrete delivers a range of benefits for construction projects, including:
• Cost Savings: Recycled concrete is often more affordable than natural aggregates, helping reduce overall project costs.
• Environmental Impact: By reusing materials, we minimise landfill waste and conserve natural resources.
• Durability: Recycled concrete products are durable and reliable, performing as well as natural aggregates in most applications.
• Compliance: Our recycled concrete meets Auckland Council and Auckland Transport standards, ensuring it is suitable for use in approved projects.
Applications of Recycled Concrete
Recycled concrete can be used in a wide variety of construction applications, such as:
• Base Course and Sub-Base: Ideal for roads, driveways, and pathways.
• Pipe Bedding and Backfill: Suitable for infrastructure projects, such as drainage and utility works.
• General Fill and Stabilisation: Effective in land development and foundation support.
Recycled concrete products offer flexibility and reliability across many project types, making them a preferred choice for sustainable construction.
